Capsule Bio

Originally the wife of a Merkit noble, she became Ögedei Khan's second wife after Genghis Khan conquered the Merkits in 1204. She received the title of Khatun - the female equivalent of Khan. Over the years she bore Ögedei five sons, including Guyuk, her personal favorite. She eclipsed all Ögedei's other wives in power and influence.
