Capsule bio
Cnán (pr. khnahn) is an orphan born in the Beijing area during Genghis Khan's conquest of the city. Her mother was raped by a conquering Mongol, and she is the medieval equivalent of an Army brat. She is a Binder, as was her mother.
When she first meets the Shield-Brethren, she uses the alias "Vaetha," a Tocharian word that means "to see, to know." Feronantus, for his own reasons, translates it as "spy."
