Wiki pages, forum posts, and discussion comments use the "wikicreole" standard for markup. See the cheat sheet at right.
Formatting links can use a bit more explanation than the chart.
The URL used can be internal to this site (like /welcome) or fully qualified (like http://mongoliad.com). There is a also a shortcut to create internal links to 'Pedia pages, by just using their page name. In all cases, if the URL is cumbersome, or not appropriate for the context, you can provide alternate descriptive text for the link.
The following table contains examples for each case:
| Example Case | Input | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Offsite link | [[http://subutai.mn]] | http://subutai.mn |
| Offsite link with alternate text | [[http://subutai.mn|Subutai Corporation]] | Subutai Corporation |
| Internal link | [[/welcome]] | /welcome |
| Internal link with alternate text | [[/forum/5|Creative]] | Creative |
| 'Pedia link | [[PageName]] | PageName |
| 'Pedia link with alternate text | [[PageName|Arbitrary text goes here]] | Arbitrary text goes here |
'Pedia pages can also have one or more tags applied to them. As users rise in rank, new tags may become available for their use. Some tags are only visible to users with high ranks.
Two tags are special: "public" and "subscribers". The "public" tag means that anyone is allowed to see the page. When regular users create a new page, it is created with the "public" tag. The "subscribers" tag means that only active subscribers are allowed to see the page. Use this tag when creating 'Pedia pages or uploading 'Pedia files which are based on subscriber-only materials.
In addition to the wikicreole standard described above and on the cheat sheet, we implement the following extensions:
__This text is stricken!__
This text is stricken!
To show an informative table describing the attachments on a page:
<<attachments>>
Turns the text inside to black-on-black. Users can see the text by selecting it. The syntax is:
<<spoiler>>This text will be hidden.<<endspoiler>>
which produces:
This text will be hidden.
You can also include a label, as follows:
<<spoiler(Mongoliad Chapter 2)>>This text is a spoiler for the Mongoliad chapter 2<<endspoiler>>
Text may also be color coded, as follows:
<<color(#HEXVALUE)>>This would be a different color.<<endcolor>>
You may also use color names if you'd rather not trouble with the web-ready format.
To mark a quotation, use <<quote>> and <<endquote>> to bracket the quoted information. This is mostly useful in comments and messages but works in 'Pedia pages too, and looks like this:
To indicate who said it, use the opening form <<quote(name of person)>>, which looks like this:
Multiple layers of quotations appear in different colors to help distinguish what's going on:
(Don't worry, designers will eventually put better colors there.)
The syntax is:
<<video(width,height,url)>>
The syntax is:
<<youtube(width,height,key)>>
Where "key" is the video identifier from the YouTube URL.
To make a page redirect to another page, make the first line as follows:
#REDIRECT Destination Page Name
This works only for 'pedia pages, and not for blog posts or comments.
At present there is one alternate formatting engine that may be used for wiki pages; this is the "screenplay" engine. To use it, the first line of the page text must be "#FORMAT screenplay" (case as given). Documentation on the screenplay format is here.
One example of a sidebar is the help graphic on this page. For documentation on how to make them, visit Meta/Web/PediaHelp/Sidebars.
